OPCCTS- Knights Templar: Jacksonville Investiture Report
My dear fellow Knights, Dames, Postulants, Friends, and Interested Parties of OPCCTS:
Although it was a very light attendance by Invested regular member OPCCTS Knights and Dames Templar (only 13-- oddly enough, does this number ring a bell?), the larger number of Postulants/Candidates and family members/guests certainly added to the larger overall joy and good time this past weekend in beautiful JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA!
I believe I can say we all returned home in a tired physical state from the consistent activity level and overall revelry, but also very happy, nonetheless.
Five new members entered our great Order on various levels:
Chevalier Chris Honneffer of Farmington, New Mexico entered the Order as an Invested Knight. In attendance with him was his lovely wife, Lynette.
Chevalier John Stypick of Grand Island, New York entered the Order as an Invested Knight. In attendance with him was his lovely wife, Sandy.
Frater Brent Batla of Burleson, Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth area) entered the Order as a Postulant, pending his Investiture during the upcoming International Grand Convent General in Granada, Spain, in September. His wife was unable to accompany him on this Jacksonville trip.
Frater Reverend Doctor Fernando Santillana of Los Angeles, California entered the Order as a Postulant, pending his Investiture during the upcoming International Grand Convent General in Granada, Spain, in September. His wife also was unable to accompany him on this Jacksonville trip.
Soror Lyndsey Sandwick, the very lovely daughter of our own Chevalier Todd Sandwick, entered the Order as a Serving Sister. In addition, Todd's younger daughters Kristin and Chelsea also attended the Jacksonville weekend--- all these beautiful and very personable (and great fun!) young ladies certainly added additional liveliness to our entire weekend!
(The addition of these three beautiful young ladies in their gorgeous ball gowns at the Investiture and Banquet on Saturday night had us "older folks" quite awe-struck-- what a "vision in our midst" and a great addition to our weekend!)
Further to this, young Novice Michael Fredrickson, son of Nate and Holly and member of the OPCCTS Novitiate, came along on this trip, and the Sandwick girls have seemingly adopted him as a brother--- what a fun time with ALL of these young folks--- and THANK YOU, MICHAEL for your very appreciated service at the Altar during the Investiture!
(*** Laughter rang loudly at the Saturday Night Afterglow party and again at breakfast in the Hotel yesterday (Sunday) morning, when I gave Lyndsey, Chelsea, and Michael lessons on "how to speak Texan" (Kristin was still sleeping upstairs yesterday), and to hear these young Minnesota folks "speak Texan" was a great belly-laugh! Their attempts to try to teach me a Minnesota accent didn't work too well, though!)
We heartily welcome ALL these wonderful persons as new additions to the membership rolls of OPCCTS! We greatly appreciate their extensive travel efforts to come and take part in this Investiture.
Friday:
The day started out with my getting up out of bed real early after about four hour's sleep (We had a late Thursday night "Officer's Meeting" on the hotel pool deck with cigars and Scotch)--- I attended a 7:00 a.m. TELEVISION INTERVIEW on the "Morning Show" at WJXT-TV Channel 4 where the Knight Templar Order was given a 10-minute segment (3 minute, 15 second live studio interview with a "DaVinci Code" taped lead-in!) with local Jacksonville TV anchor Bruce Hamilton--- I'll receive a copy of it later this week and we'll add it as a streaming video to our new-design OPCCTS Web Site. It was a good interview, and we certainly were happy to get the TV coverage and publicity!
Friday was a day of sight-seeing in Jacksonville on the St. John's River (and the shopping Mall for the ladies, of course!) while we prepared for the Friday Night "Dining Out" at the Sea Turtle Inn out at the Atlantic Beach. Out greatest disappointment was that the weather did NOT cooperate Friday night--- a great blustery wind and cloudy storm blew up and we couldn't sit outside on the deck for our dinner--- but we did have our own private room for the dinner, and a few braved the weather to go run out and take some "feet in the water" pictures on the beach, weather notwithstanding!
The crab-crusted grouper and Trinidad chicken dinner was SUPERB--- and "a GREAT time was had by all!"--- and more late night braving of the wind, which had quieted down quite a bit later that night, on the hotel pool deck for more scotch, rum, and cigars for those who braved the last of the late-night weather elements.
Saturday:
The pre-Investiture Rite of Expostulation was conducted by our own Chevalier Knight Commander Mark Carter in one of the private meeting rooms at the Hotel at 10:30 a.m., and was very well done. Thanks, Mark!
THE INVESTITURE:
For those of you who didn't attend this weekend, you missed a wonderful Investiture in one of the most beautiful Churches in which we have ever held a ceremony. You all saw the pictures I sent out in advance, but those pictures certainly do NOT do that Church any justice. The century-old Church of the Immaculate Conception left us all breathless with it's beauty, and it lent a true "Crusader" historical feeling to the Investiture itself.
Our normal late afternoon Investiture scheduling was changed due to the Church wedding schedule. Our Investiture was held at 2:00 p.m. and we had till 3:30 before having to finish to make time for a wedding ceremony scheduled after us. We just made it!
Father Ed Murphy, the assistant Pastor of the Church parish and a "younger" priest with a great personality, was a little delayed getting to the Church due to both a time schedule misinformation and a long drive into town from a weekend Catholic retreat center. But no matter the 15 minute late start--- he was MAGNIFICENT in his joining in as our "substitute" Great Prelate and Guardian. He put on a stellar performance, especially doing his part in the Investiture from a "cold" first start!
We progressed through the Investiture in good time and were headed for the Hotel right at 3:30.
THE BANQUET:
We came together at 6:15 p.m. in the Hotel lobby and progressed by walking along the St. John's Riverside boardwalk from the Hotel to our five-star restaurant, the River City Brewing Company. Doctor Tom Bozzuto and I drove over ahead to take the auction items over to the restaurant in his car-- THANKS, Tom!
We had a reserved separate section of the public dining room at the restaurant, as the private rooms were already reserved, but this was virtually as good as a private room, and added a great ambience to our formal dinner. Our dinner was a gourmet-cooked filet mignon cut of fine beef and a superb chicken dish, all on one plate, with vegetable medley and all the trimmings. What a GREAT dinner!
The auction was conducted by our Great Seneschal, Captain Chevalier Jim Clabby, assisted by our new "Vanna White Stand-in," our new Soror Lyndsey Sandwick, and what a great job was accomplished by both of them!
Our formal Toasts for the evening were conducted with great aplomb by our Great Master of the House, Chevalier Knight Commander Nate Fredrickson. Subsequent to that and before the auction, some congratulatory gifts were exchanged.
Announcement:
Our own Chevalier Doctor Tom Bozzuto has been promoted to the rank of Knight Officer and has been placed into the newly-created Office of GREAT WARDEN for OPCCTS--- a pivotal Administrative position for delegated special Administrative Aide functions, including dealing with Enquirers leading to the Candidate and Postulant stages, and other such duties. Congratulations to you, and THANK YOU for all your fine work, Tom!
This is the first of the Warden positions to be established... we expect this position to be extended with the expansion of OPCCTS over time, possibly later with a cadre of Wardens to be headed by a Senior Warden.
THE AUCTION:
We had more items this year donated than in any previous year, and high pre-bids on items that came through!
HIGH-DOLLAR ITEMS:
Chevalier Commander Mark Carter won Dame Holly Fredrickson's donated stained glass art window of the Crusader Cross shield at a bid of $420.00 over a previous pre-bid of $400.00
Chevalier Lee Shelton won Dame Holly Fredrickson's donated custom stained glass art window of his Coat of Arms at a PRE-bid of $450.00 with no higher bid being placed at the Banquet.
Chevalier Colonel Bill Bell won Chevalier Clyde Rowland's donated signed bottle of House of Lords Scotch whisky at a PRE-bid of $300.00 with no higher bid being placed at the Banquet. A second bottle of the same House of Lords Scotch was won by Chevalier Nate Fredrickson.
Chevalier Tom Bozzuto and Chevalier Nate Fredrickson got into a good-natured bidding war over the leather-covered collector's humidor box of Jose Seijas Signature Collection 2000 cigars, which had started at a PRE-bid of $225.00. Doctor Bozzuto was the successful bidder at $325.00, and he then graciously gave Nate and a few other cigar lovers one of the cigars!
Many other wonderful items were donated-- and we developed an expected total (when all collected) of over $3,000.00 --- our BEST CHARITY BANQUET, ever!!--- for our chosen charity. The Charity recipient this year, an established local Jacksonville Charity, is one that is to be finally chosen by Chevalier Officer/Deputy Commander Dale Hatfield of Jacksonville--- Dale is currently working on the final donation arrangements, and it will be announced in a subsequent e-mail to be sent to you soon. THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO DONATED ITEMS AND TO THOSE WHO BID AND WON THE ITEMS FOR YOUR AUCTION PURCHASES! This is our true Templar Spirit and first Mandate at work!
The weather cooperated and cleared and the wind quieted down, and we had a WONDERFUL AND FUN "Great Preceptor's Champagne, Port, Scotch, Wine and Cigars Afterglow Party" on the Hotel pool deck after returning from the Banquet.
A great big THANK YOU to Chevalier Knight Commander David Johnson, Chevalier Officer/Deputy Commander Dale Hatfield, and Chevalier Officer Doctor Tom Bozzuto for making this a VERY SUCCESSFUL Investiture weekend!

L'hôtel de Jacksonville Riverfront de plaza de Crowne est un hôtel très gentil, et nous avons négocié un taux TRÈS RAISONNABLE spécial de pièce par nuit pour Templars. Nous avons la négociation possible du MEILLEUR taux d'hôtel, $99.00 par nuit (plus des impôts applicables) pour un lit simple ou double énorme de roi dans une grande salle et ce taux est bon pour notre groupe de Templar jeudi de nuit, 19 avril, par dimanche nuit, 22 avril, pour n'importe qui qui souhaite entrer probablement tôt ou rester plus tard pour un jour ou deux et détendre pendant quelques jours supplémentaires dans « JAX » !
Cet hôtel est situé au centre de Jacksonville du centre, droite à côté du pont d'Alsop, sur le fleuve de rue John à travers de la section principale du centre ville. Il est également à travers le pont chez la distance de marche de l'atterrissage de Jacksonville, un grand lieu de rendez-vous des achats, des restaurants et des clubs du côté du centre du fleuve. Vendredi 20 avril-- notre « vendredi nuit dinant dehors » :
La robe est « bord de la mer Plate-forme-Habillent occasionnel »-- Susceptible au temps : Mous et chemise, collier ouvert, aucune veste nécessaire pour les hommes. Robe occasionnelle de dames comme désirée. Aucuns jeans, svp !
La plus grande majorité des arrivées pour le week-end viennent en vendredi après-midi et soirée, arrivant toute la journée.
Dans l'après-midi tôt, vendredi, nous avons des réunions formelles et informelles de nos personnes de dirigeants et de Comité selon les besoins à l'hôtel (généralement dans la barre !), et dans l'après-midi postérieur, nous tous nous réunissons généralement à la barre d'hôtel dans un secteur en arrière isolé pour des introductions de nouveaux membres.
Plus tard, au sujet de 6:00 en soirée, nous tout le voyage par notre transport de l'hôtel à un restaurant pré-choisi pour une réunion sans cérémonie très gentille de dîner en tant que groupe.
Cette année, nous monterons à bord d'un autobus privé de transport et conduirons 18 milles dehors de boulevard atlantique par Jacksonville, jusqu'à ce que les extrémités et toi de chaussée ne puissiez pas aller promouvoir ou vous éliminerez dans l'Océan Atlantique ! Nous dînerons merveilleux des fruits de mer combinés et le poulet (poulet de mérou et du Trinidad de crabe-srusted avec tous règlages) à l'auberge de tortue de mer, sur leur bord de la mer couvert en arrière ornent bien chez l'Océan Atlantique près de la plage ! (voir le http://www.seaturtle.com/ et cliquez la page d'agréments pour une vue d'où nous serons… ceci est la plate-forme ouverte que nous serons dans le domaine « couvert » de plate-forme ouverte, près de la plage.)
Marques spéciales de cette promenade pendant une grande soirée. Après dîner, le transport nous prend pour le tour de nouveau à l'hôtel et nous rassemblons encore à la barre (ou extérieur autour de la plate-forme de piscine) pour un « bonnet de nuit » et plus de camaraderie et de discussion animée. Ceci tient compte pour que les personnes de tard-arrivée viennent joignent nous, et plus de camaraderie, introductions, et les commencements de formation de bonnes amitiés parmi tous membres.
Normalement, je remonte un « un marché global des prix » pour vendredi et samedi qui inclut seulement les deux repas et transports égalisants… vendredi le dîner occasionnel de nuit (du vin et de la bière pour ce repas est inclus dans le « marché global »--- les cocktails mélangés sont tout seuls !) et samedi le banquet d'hôtel de Poteau-Investiture de nuit (barre d'argent comptant incluse de vin seulement pour la bière et les cocktails mélangés), et le transport à et vendredi du restaurant de nuit et à et de l'investiture de samedi à l'église… et inclut tous les impôts et pourboires… ainsi subsistance qui à l'esprit.
Cette année, le coût pour ce « un marché global des prix » est $ 210.00 --- Ce prix est par personne. (Les personnes de Jacksonville et de Floride/Géorgie avec leur propre transport seront légèrement moins de contact je pour l'évaluation ajustée)

Samedi 14 octobre :
Jour d'investiture…
POUR CETTE INVESTITURE, EN RAISON DU PROGRAMME SPÉCIAL, NOTEZ SVP LES TEMPS ET LES PLANS POUR CE JOUR.
Vous commencerez le jour avec le déjeuner dans le secteur de restaurant d'hôtel n'importe quand après environ 8:00 heure du matin.
10:30 heure du matin : Il y a cérémonial et une prière spéciaux de Templar de pré-Investiture très importante et obligatoire POUR le NOUVEAUX INVESTEES ET MEMBRES SEULEMENT (FACULTATIF pour des membres OBLIGATOIRES pour des postulants) appelés le rite de la Remontrance un rite antique de pré-Investiture pour des postulants. C'est une CÉRÉMONIE PRIVÉE a tenu à environ 10:30 heure du matin dans un des lieux de réunion à l'hôtel, car nous n'aurons pas le logement d'église pour ce rite spécial, mais seulement pour l'investiture elle-même.
Le rite de la remontrance est un service FERMÉ, ne pas s'ouvrir aux « étrangers »-- il est pour les postulants et certainement tous les membres qui souhaitent s'occuper de lui, mais il n'est pas pour des membres ou des invités de famille. C'est le SEUL rite dans l'ordre de Templar qui est « fermé » à la vue extérieure que l'investiture elle-même est le plus certainement ouverte à n'importe qui qui souhaite s'occuper.
Le rite de la remontrance sera complet par environ 11:30 - 11 :45, et si vous souhaitez, vous pourriez obtenir un déjeuner rapide, parce que nous partirons par notre transport de l'hôtel (rassemblement dans l'entrée) chez 1:30 P.M. pour aller à notre église d'investiture.
1:30 P.M. : Partez de l'entrée d'hôtel par transport à l'église.
La famille, épouse/mari, enfants, « autre significatif, » chacun TOUT sont LA PLUPART DE BIENVENUE pour s'occuper de la pleine masse d'investiture (ouvrez-vous également au public et aux membres de paroisse de conception immaculée)
2:00 P.M. : La volonté de la masse d'investiture commencent 2:00 P.M. et continueront jusqu'à l'accomplissement chez approximativement 3:15 P.M. ou ainsi, et nous retournerons par transport à l'hôtel immédiatement après… certains d'entre nous séjour derrière et enlèverons l'ameublement d'investiture à l'église, puis revenons à l'hôtel.
Vous aurez le temps pour détendre et faire quelque chose que vous souhaitez pendant environ 2 heures, y compris obtiennent habillé et se préparent au banquet formel de soirée, qui commencera par une heure à environ 6:15 - 6 de cocktail :30. Plus d'information sur cela ci-dessous.
Notre église d'investiture est la plus belle et église historique à Jacksonville l'église de la conception immaculée (catholique)… qu'une église MERVEILLEUSE de Gothique-modèle a construit dans vieil le modèle romain de pré-Vatican II Latinesque.
L'adresse est rue est de 121 Duval (profondément au coeur de Jacksonville du centre), située juste à travers le pont de fleuve et environ 4 blocs dans le centre-ville de notre hôtel. En fait, si vous avez une salle d'hôtel de Riverfront, vous pouvez voir les flèches de l'église de votre pièce d'hôtel ! Voyez le site Web d'église chez http://www.immaculateconceptionjax.org/
En date de cette écriture, un nouveau prêtre le pasteur auxiliaire à l'église, engendrent ED Murphy, sera très probablement l'Officiant pour notre masse d'investiture.

Dames : Les membres dans Field du Dame ou uniforme de robe formel de désordre de l'ordre ou uniforme femelle militaire/de désordre robe (si autorisé) ou robe formelle de robe ou de cocktail de soirée (" après 5 ») ou « robe d'église » est acceptable. Cross blanche de Templar de manteau et de Dame avec des décorations, gants blancs. Non éléments de circuit dans le vêtement régulier de réunion d'église.
Invités de membre/représentants d'autres ordres chevaleresques : peut porter le manteau et les décorations de leurs ordres respectifs, car ils souhaitent.

Actuellement, notre banquet est projeté pour RIVER CITY BREWING COMPANY (voir le http://www.rivercitybrew.com/) à travers la rue de pont de l'hôtel. Nous aurons au sujet d'une PROMENADE de cinq minutes belle au restaurant le long de la promenade de rive, sous le pont de fleuve. Cet endroit est BEAU, et se repose bien sur l'eau à la marina !
La réception de cocktail (barre d'argent comptant pour ceci seulement) est dans la barre de restaurant environ de 6:15 P.M. environ à 7:30 P.M., (18 :15 à 19:30) alors la volonté de banquet de gala de Poteau-Investiture commencent 7:30 P.M. (18 :30)
Nous aurons notre banquet (la NOURRITURE SUPERBE ! !) dans une section réservée spéciale du plancher public principal du restaurant. Notre menu sera un petit mignon combiné de filet avec un plat cuit au four de poulet et tout vin de règlages… inclus !
Nous sommes permis d'avoir tous nos drapeaux et les décorations dans le restaurant si nous souhaitons, ainsi, le banquet seront tout à fait quelque chose se rappeler !
Enchère de charité : Je mentionnerai également que nous avons toujours une enchère des articles très gentils de cadeau à la fin samedi du banquet de poteau-Investiture de nuit. Nous encourageons autant de personnes en tant que souhait à apporter une certaine « somme d'argent de charité » supplémentaire et aussi, si vous souhaitez, un article pour l'enchère qui soirée. Ceci peut être un article de Templar-themed, ou un article général de cadeau ou de souvenir.
Plusieurs des articles donnés sont liés à l'ordre de Templar (Templar ou croisé « themed »), et certains sont juste les articles et les souvenirs généraux de cadeau. Le montant de cette enchère constitue une donation à la charité de l'ordre de Templar, qui va habituellement à une des charités de recherches médicales, telles que la sclérose en plaques, de fibrose cystique, de diabète juvénile et d'autres bases de recherches médicales. Chacun apprécie cet événement, car c'est beaucoup d'amusement, et fournit une donation gentille à la charité, qui est notre premier mandat comme Templars ! Peut-être vous pouvez souhaiter inclure une certaine somme d'argent « budgétaire » supplémentaire pour cette enchère si vous souhaitez faire une enchère offrir pour un de ces grands articles d'enchère.
Le banquet conclura chez approximativement 10:30 P.M. (22 :30 heures) et nous marcherons (le trébuchement ?) de nouveau à l'hôtel le long de la promenade de rive et appréciez les lumières de ville de thr la nuit.
Après, une tradition de fin de nuit d'OPCCTS Templar… !

Ne le laissez jamais soit dit que le Templars (particulièrement l'Américain Templars) ne sont pas un groupe amusement-affectueux et social !--- Après que le banquet de poteau-Investiture, une autre tradition d'amusement se soit développé au cours des années lesoù chacun attend avec intérêt. Dear OPCCTS Knight Templar Members, International OSMTH Members of our Brother Grand and Magisterial Bodies, Postulants, Invited Guests, and other Interested Parties:
It is with great pleasure I announce that OPCCTS- Knights Templar of North America shall be conducting our Spring Assembly and Rite of Investiture and related Templar Activities (including many FUN events) over the weekend of 19-20-21 April, 2007.
Our previous Investiture of OPCCTS was held almost six months ago in the Seat of our Order in North America, Dallas, Texas--- and now we look to formally establish our Commandery of Old Dixie in the Deep South USA at this upcoming fun weekend event in Florida. Since our last Investiture, we have been individually very active in our charity efforts while at the same time interviewing many new prospective Candidates for membership.
Important features of this Investiture:
OPCCTS Postulants: This coming 21 April event shall prove to be another great step forward in our growth. We shall have a nice group of North American Postulants, both those Invested and those to be received into the Postulancy for later Investiture.
The Weekend Activities, Schedules, and Costs:
Airport arrival and transfer to Hotel:
(Note: This transportation is SEPARATE from the transportation you will have over the weekend taking you from Hotel to the Church and back--- do NOT confuse the two, please!)
There are a few options here: 1) Take an "Airport Shuttle Service" to the Hotel (best and most often chosen option)--- OR--- 2) Rent a car and drive yourself--- a choice of several at the airport. (This is okay if you plan to drive around to sightsee, but there will be little time to do that, really.)

But you may not have alot of time to be driving around, as we have transportation for the major functions, and you are within walking distance of anything else you might wish to see.

The Crowne Plaza Jacksonville Riverfront Hotel is a very nice hotel, and we have negotiated a special VERY REASONABLE room rate per night for Templars. We have the BEST Hotel rate possible negotiated, $99.00 per night (plus applicable taxes) for a huge single or double King bed in a great room-- and that rate is good for our Templar group from Thursday night, April 19, through Sunday night, April 22, for anyone who wishes to possibly come in early or stay later for a day or two and relax for a few extra days in "JAX"!
This Hotel is located in the center of downtown Jacksonville, right next to the Alsop bridge, on the St. John's River across from the main section of downtown. It is also across the bridge within walking distance of The Jacksonville Landing, a great venue of shopping, restaurants and clubs on the downtown side of the river. We have the block of Hotel rooms reserved--- BUT--- Each person attending makes their own Hotel reservation and takes care of their own Hotel bill separately (Just the dinners and transportation are offered in the separate "One Price Package Deal" that I negotiate (shown below) --- Hotel rooms are not included in this package.)

Friday, 20 April-- our "Friday Night Dining Out":
Dress is "Seaside Deck-Dress Casual"-- Weather-dependant: Slacks and shirt, open collar, no jacket necessary for men. Ladies casual dress as desired. No Jeans, please!
The greatest majority of the arrivals for the weekend come in Friday afternoon and evening, arriving all day long.
In the early afternoon, Friday, we have formal and informal meetings of our Officers and Committee people as necessary at the Hotel (generally in the Bar!), and in later afternoon, we all generally gather at the Hotel Bar in a back secluded area for introductions of new members.
Later, about 6:00 in the evening, we all travel by our transport from the Hotel to a pre-chosen restaurant for a very nice informal dinner gathering as a group.
This year, we'll board a private transport bus and drive 18 miles out Atlantic Boulevard from Jacksonville, till the roadway ends and you can't go any further or you'll drive off into the Atlantic Ocean! We will have a marvelous dinner of combined seafood and chicken (crab-srusted Grouper and Trinidad chicken with all the trimmings) at the Sea Turtle Inn, on their sea-side covered back deck right at the Atlantic Ocean beach-side! (see http://www.seaturtle.com/ and click the Amenities page for a view of where we'll be... this is the open deck--- we'll be in the "covered" open deck area, beach-side.)
This special outing makes for a great evening. After dinner, transport picks us up for the ride back to the Hotel and we congregate again at the Bar (or outside around the pool deck) for a "nightcap" and more camaraderie and lively discussion. This allows for late-arriving persons to come join us, and more camaraderie, introductions, and the formational beginnings of good friendships among all the members.
Normally, I put together a "One Price Package Deal" for Friday and Saturday which includes only the two evening meals and transport... the Friday Night Casual Dinner (wine and beer for this meal is included in the "package deal"--- mixed cocktails are on your own!) and the Saturday Night Post-Investiture Hotel Banquet (wine only included--- cash bar for beer and mixed cocktails), and transportation to and from Friday night restaurant and to and from the Saturday Investiture at the Church... and includes all taxes and gratuities...so keep that in mind.
This year, the cost for this "One Price Package Deal" is $ 210.00 --- This price is per person. (Jacksonville and Florida/Georgia persons with their own transport will be slightly less-- contact me for adjusted pricing)

Investiture Day...
FOR THIS INVESTITURE, DUE TO THE SPECIAL SCHEDULE, PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE TIMES AND PLANS FOR THIS DAY.
You will start the day with breakfast in the hotel restaurant area any time after about 8:00 a.m.
10:30 a.m.: There is a very important, mandatory pre-Investiture special Templar ceremonial and prayer FOR THE NEW INVESTEES AND MEMBERS ONLY (OPTIONAL for Members-- MANDATORY for Postulants) called the Rite of Expostulation-- an ancient pre-Investiture Rite for Postulants. This is a PRIVATE CEREMONY held at about 10:30 a.m. in one of the meeting rooms at the Hotel, as we will not have Church accomodations for this special Rite, but only for the Investiture itself.
The Rite of Expostulation is a CLOSED Service, not open to "outsiders"-- it is for the Postulants and certainly any members who wish to attend it, but it is NOT for family members or guests. This is the ONLY Rite in the Templar Order that is "closed" to outside view--- The Investiture itself is most certainly open to anyone who wishes to attend.
The Rite of Expostulation will be complete by about 11:30-11:45, and if you wish, you might get a quick lunch, because we will be departing by our transport from the Hotel (gather in the Lobby) at 1:30 p.m. to go to our Investiture Church.
1:30 p.m.: Depart from Hotel Lobby by transport to the Church.
Family, Wife / Husband, Children, "Significant Other," Everyone--- ALL are MOST WELCOME to attend the full Investiture Mass (also open to the Public and to Immaculate Conception parish members)
2:00 p.m. : The Investiture Mass will start at 2:00 p.m. and will continue till completion at approximately 3:15 p.m. or so, and we will return by transport to the Hotel immediately afterward... some of us stay behind and remove the Investiture furnishings at the Church, then return to the Hotel.
You will have time to relax and do anything you wish for about 2 hours, including get dressed and prepare for the evening Formal Banquet, which will start with a cocktail hour at about 6:15-6:30. More info on that below.
Our Investiture Church is the most beautiful and historic Church in Jacksonville-- the Church of the Immaculate Conception (Roman Catholic) ... a WONDERFUL Gothic-style Church built in the old pre-Vatican II Roman Latinesque style.
The address is 121 East Duval Street (deep in the heart of downtown Jacksonville), located just across the River bridge and about 4 blocks into the downtown area from our Hotel. In fact, if you have a Riverfront hotel room, you can see the spires of the Church from your Hotel room! See the Church web site at http://www.immaculateconceptionjax.org/
As of this writing, a new Priest-- the Assistant Pastor at the Church, Father Ed Murphy, will most likely be the Officiant for our Investiture Mass.

Currently, our Banquet is planned for the RIVER CITY BREWING COMPANY (see http://www.rivercitybrew.com/ ) across the bridge street from the Hotel. We will have about a 5 minute beautiful WALK to the restaurant along the Riverside boardwalk, under the River bridge. This place is BEAUTIFUL, and sits right on the water at the marina!
The Cocktail Reception (Cash Bar for this only) is in the Restaurant Bar from about 6:15 p.m. to about 7:30 p.m., (18:15 to 19:30) then the Post-Investiture Gala Banquet will start at 7:30 p.m. (18:30)
We will have our banquet (SUPERB FOOD!!) in a special reserved section of the main public floor of the restaurant. Our menu will be a combined petite filet mignon with a baked chicken dish and all the trimmings... wine included!
We are allowed to have all our flags and decorations in the restaurant if we wish, so, the banquet will be quite something to remember!
Charity Auction: I will also mention that we always have an auction of very nice gift items at the end of the Saturday night post-Investiture banquet. We encourage as many persons as wish to bring some extra "charity money" and also, if you wish, an item for auction that evening. This may be a Templar-themed item, or a general gift or keepsake item.
Many of the donated items are related to the Templar Order (Templar or Crusader "themed"), and some are just general gift items and mementos. The proceeds from this auction constitute a donation to charity from the Templar Order, which usually goes to one of the medical research charities, such as multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, Juvenile Diabetes and other medical research foundations. Everyone enjoys this event, as it is much fun, and provides a nice donation to charity, which is our foremost mandate as Templars! Perhaps you may wish to include some extra "budgetary" money for this auction if you wish to make an auction bid for one of these great auction items.
The Banquet will conclude at approximately 10:30 p.m. (22:30 hours) and we'll walk (stumble?) back to the Hotel along the Riverside boardwalk and enjoy thr city lights at night.

AS ALWAYS, in keeping with the "standing tradition," we will have "The Great Preceptor's Champagne and Port Wine Post-Post-Investiture Banquet 'Afterglow' Reception, Social and Cigar Smoker for Those Who Wish" Weather permitting, this will be held OUTSIDE ON THE POOLSIDE DECK after the Investiture Banquet--- always a great close to a wonderful evening---generally carrying us much later into the night! Only the heartiest stay late for this one!!!

Pourquoi faisons-nous ce changement ?
La raison principale est que la GRANDE réunion de notre ordre de Templier de chevalier de parent, le général grand international de couvent d'OSMTH (la GRANDE réunion annuelle de l'Ordre entier) est maintenant de manière permanente prévue pour le deuxième week-end de septembre chaque année -- et notre réunion américaine du nord, pendant plusieurs années, a eu lieu en octobre, le mois ensuite cela.
Cette situation a occasionné deux difficultés invisibles -- limiter l'intérêt de ces d'outre-mer de venir à nos investitures ici en Amérique du nord (depuis que nous seulement avons vu chacun par mois précédent), et à la limite davantage de nos propres membres d'OPCCTS à venir à la grande réunion outre-mer, et puis assiste à notre propre réunion annuelle américaine du nord et à investiture d'OPCCTS le mois suivant !
PAR CONSÉQUENT, nous avons décidé de déplacer la date de notre Chapiter et investiture annuels américains du nord au ressort, en avril.
Les officiers de notre américain du nord subsidiaire Commanderie de vieux Dixie travaillent actuellement dur pour faire à cet événement prochain d'avril un GRAND succès. Ensemble, nous avons décidé d'avoir ce service d'investiture d'avril les buts multiples d'apprécier ce beau secteur de notre pays, formellement établissant leur Commanderie pendant que nous faisions de Washington DC, et déplaçant la date de l'investiture annuelle d'OPCCTS plus de manière permanente au printemps (qui, comme expliqué, encouragerait l'intérêt et les possibilités financières pour plus de nous de voyager à l'Europe en automne.)
Jacksonville, la Floride a les dispositifs MERVEILLEUX qui lui font un endroit superbe pour une investiture ! "JAX" (car nous nous référons à la ville, et qui est le code de l'aéroport de la ville) il est très facile arriver à avec un aéroport important servi par toutes les lignes aériennes principales. JAX est plus petit et plus compact qu'Atlanta ou Miami, plus facile à diriger dans et à, a des agréments plus bien informés sur les prix pourtant plus attrayants, et a un divertissements merveilleux, restaurants, et la zone d'hôtel le long du fleuve de St. Jean scénique qui traverse la ville -- l'atterrissage de Jacksonville (voient http://www.jacksonvillelanding.com/ ) - - - les grands restaurants, pubs, rendez-vous de divertissement... ceci est où nous établirons notre centre des activités pour ce week-end d'investiture avril de 21 !

Greetings, ALL!
I have BIG News from OPCCTS- Knights Templar of North America! -- A MAJOR schedule change for 2007!
I am announcing another of our "Traveling" Investitures --- one of those held away from the OPCCTS Seat of Dallas, Texas---
For 2007 only, the main Investiture will be held in the Deep South USA, hosted by our Brothers of the Commandery of Old Dixie in beautiful (and easy to travel to)... Jacksonville, Florida !!
This city is VERY easy to get to from Europe and the United Kingdom by making connections through the American "hub" cities of New York, Washington DC, Atlanta, Miami, or others--- check with your travel agent or "on line" with the airlines!
Date: The weekend of April 20-21, 2007 (Friday and Saturday)--- The Investiture will be held on Saturday, April 21
Why are we making this change?
The main reason is that the BIG meeting of our Parent Knight Templar Order, the OSMTH International Grand Convent General (the BIG yearly meeting of the entire Order) is now permanently scheduled for the second weekend of September every year-- and our North American meeting has, for several years, been in October, the month after that.
This situation has caused two unseen difficulties-- to limit the interest of those overseas to come to our Investitures over here in North America (since we only saw everyone a month previous), and to limit more of our own OPCCTS members to come to the big meeting overseas, and then attend our own OPCCTS North American Annual Meeting and Investiture the next month!
THEREFORE, we have decided to move the date of our North American Annual Chapiter and Investiture to the Spring, in April.
The Officers of our subsidiary North American Commandery of Old Dixie are currently working hard to make this upcoming April Event a GREAT success. Together, we decided to have this April Investiture serve the multiple purposes of enjoying this beautiful area of our country, formally establishing their Commandery as we did Washington DC's, and moving the date of the Annual OPCCTS Investiture more permanently to Springtime (which, as explained, would encourage interest and financial capability for more of us to travel to Europe in the Fall.)
Jacksonville, Florida has WONDERFUL features which make it a superb place for an Investiture! "JAX" (as we refer to the city, and which is the city's airport code) is very easy to get to with a major airport served by all major airlines. JAX is smaller and more compact than Atlanta or Miami, easier to navigate in and to, has more price-conscious yet attractive amenities, and has a wonderful Entertainment, Restaurant, and Hotel district along the scenic St. John's River which flows through the city-- The Jacksonville Landing (see http://www.jacksonvillelanding.com/ )--- Great restaurants, pubs, entertainment venues... this is where we will establish our center of activities for this April 21 Investiture weekend!
The Old Dixie Officers have some SPECIAL, exciting venues in JAX they are speaking with at present--- this is going to be a FUN Investiture!
